Champion At Work- SkillsUSA at TJ

SkillsUSA at Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver, CO is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives, working together to ensure America has a skilled work force. It helps each student excel. The current skills participation is 3D, Web Design, Computer Programming, Video, and Photography. Mr. Esparza is the Admin advisor for SkillsUSA at TJ. Jonathan Howard- Web, Lea Rabon- Photography, Stacey Fornstrom- Computer Programming, Grant Laman- Video are Advisor for their respected programs. 

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.


Membership for Colorado and National membership is $20.00

Student who join SkillsUSA and participate in the program Activities will have their membership fee covered by CCT.


State Conference for Competition

To qualify for State competition, you must compete in the in-house local competition and place as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. If winners are not able to attend, then next in line for placement will have the opportunity to compete in the state event.

State competition registration entry fee is $120. There will be additional cost (approx. $60 for 2 nights) for hotel stay. Cost will be determined by on how many will share a room. Approximate cost to go to State is $240 for the 3 days. SkillsUSA @ TJ will cover for half of this cost. Final cost for student is approx. $120.
